TASK FORCE WOLFHOUND CASUALITTES

The unit shipped out on 5 October, 2004 to Kuwait for “acclimatization” and arrived at Camp Liberty in Baghdad on October 30. The unit was re-deployed to Camp Cook in Taji. After providing security for the Iraqi national elections on January 30, 2005 the unit returned to Baghdad and was again stationed at Camp Liberty.

PFC Wilfredo Urbina

were mortally wounded when their Humvee was struck by a improvised explosive device (IED)

 

December 3, 2004

SSG Henry Irizarry

was killed when the Humvee he was riding in struck a roadside explosive device.

 

6 Jan 2005. 

 

 

 

The following soldiers were killed in Taji, Iraq when their Bradley Fighting Vehicle was struck by a massive bomb placed under the surface of a dirt road.  These soldiers were conducting combat operations within our assigned sector.

were fatally injured when their Humvee rolled down an embankment into a river near Bagdad.

 

March 2, 2005

SPC Wai P. Lwin

SPC Azhar Ali

were killed in action when their Humvee in was struck by an IED on the Irish road (Airport Road)

 

March 16, 2005

 

 

SGT Paul Heltzel (C/2/156th) was killed in Baghdad, Iraq while conducting a mounted patrol on the Irish road when a vehicle-borne IED detonated.

 

May 24, 2005

SFC Peter Hahn (C/2/156th)

was killed Baghdad when his observation point was engaged by enemy forces using small arms fire.

 

August 7, 2005

Sgt. Anthony N. Kalladeen, 26, of Purchase, N.Y.

PFC. Hernando Rios, 29, of Queens, N.Y.

were killed when their HUMVEE was struck by two improvised explosive devices and they received small arms fire.  The soldiers were assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, 256th Brigade Combat Team, New York, N.Y.
